#NGWSD20: Dear Nayo
Dear Little Nayo,
I write this letter to you as your 21-year-old self. You would be proud of the woman you are today, and maybe surprised at all the great things that have happened to you, too.
Who would have thought that you would be a collegiate all-region volleyball player with the opportunity to play professionally? You’re reading this thinking ‘But I play basketball!’ But trust me: this one works out nicely in the end.

So be strong and be courageous and remember to take it all in. Every block, every serve, every pepper ball in practice: enjoy it and love it.

I know that the journey to get here will be tiring, but I promise it'll all be worth it in the end. You’ll start to play volleyball, and you will fall in love with it. You will work hard at it, because you realize you can be great at it. All the traveling and early morning volleyball tournaments are where you'll have some of your best memories, so cherish every moment and never take it for granted. Love the journey and the road.
Every challenge that comes your way, answer it and you'll become a better competitor because of it. Keep loving the game and the grind of it, because soon you'll not only inspire others, but yourself as well. Make it count every time you step on the court and never doubt yourself even when it gets tough. There will be rough losses and bad games, but there will also be great things. You will help your team achieve new heights, and as a player, you will find a lot of success.

You will do things the you reading this now would never think possible. You set career records, earn conference honors, and play for your team with heart every single match.
You will find your best friends through this game, and you will find unwavering support from your family. But none of those things matter if you don’t love the game. So be strong and be courageous and remember to take it all in. Every block, every serve, every pepper ball in practice: enjoy it and love it.
Your love for the game will take you far, but God will take you further. Trust in Him and trust in yourself. But most importantly, trust the process.
Love you,
Nayo
