#NGWSD20: Dear Brandee
Dear Brandee,
You may not know me, but I am your success.
You will accomplish so many things that you may not understand or even comprehend. I am everything you have dreamed up, that you have told Mom and Dad about, who you told your brothers and sisters you want to be. You never really understood how to get there. You knew what you wanted to be, what you wanted to do when you grew up, but didn’t really know the necessary steps it took to get there. Your parents and grandmother did everything and anything possible to help not just you, but your siblings too, to obtain their dreams.

So please, no matter what, keep going, and don’t stop moving. Never let anyone take away your smile. Continue to make people laugh, even when you don’t want to. Continue to shed light in a dark room, remain humble, and every day, be unapologetically, YOU.
This life that you are living, I promise you will not regret it. My advice to you is to keep your faith. The injuries you’ve succumbed to, always being overlooked, thoughts of quitting, and your health are roadblocks that simply takes the love from your family, your faith in God, and the pure strength and will to get to what God has for you.
You think you are the fastest, but you don’t really believe it, do you? If you attack life everyday as if it was your last, you’ll appreciate not just your gift but your life a lot more. Nothing ever comes easy. Everything you want takes sacrifice, tears, pain, isolation, the support from your family, and God by your side to make your dreams sweeter. Be prepared to be broken down, be prepared to fight, be prepared for no’s, be prepared to move, be prepared to adapt, and most of all, be prepared to cry in your mother’s arms.
Crying in your mother’s arms while listening to your father’s voice telling you what you should’ve done is the single most important part of your entire life that will happen. It was the breaking point for you. You will get tired of losing. Tired of coming in second, third, fourth, fifth. You have to understand that the losing will not continue, but it is a part of the process.
Your willingness to learn has helped you transform your journey. That point in your life made you evolve into the woman you are today. When you truly start believing in the ability and the gift that God has placed in your life, you will become, Me.
So please, no matter what, keep going, and don’t stop moving. Never let anyone take away your smile. Continue to make people laugh, even when you don’t want to. Continue to shed light in a dark room, remain humble, and every day, be unapologetically, YOU.
