Arvesta Troupe Takes NCAA Bronze in High Jump

3/15/2025 | Track and Field

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Ole Miss track & field junior Arvesta Troupe put a bow on an excellent indoor campaign, winning the bronze medal and scoring six crucial points for the Rebel men in the men's high jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday.

These are the first career NCAA points and the first All-America award for Troupe, who was competing in his first career national meet. Troupe was clean over his first two bars before topping out at 2.19m/7-02.25 on his second attempt at the height.

Troupe was guaranteed points as one of only seven to clear that height, and he was even in title contention with a couple of near misses at 2.22m/7-03.25 – which would have tied his career-best. The eventual champion, Nebraska's Tyus Wilson, was able to clear on his third attempt for the win before moving his winning height up to 2.28m/7-05.75.

Troupe is the first Rebel to score in the men's high jump, indoors or outdoors, since Olympian Ricky Robertson finished sixth indoors in 2013.
