Lady Rebels To Compete In Mercedes-Benz Championships

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team travels to Knoxville, Tenn. this weekend for the 1999 Mercedes-Benz Championships. The 54-hole tournament will run Friday through Sunday at the Gettysvue Polo, Golf & Country Club, a par 72, 5,958-yard course.
Joining the Lady Rebels will be Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Florida, Furman, Georgia, LSU, Memphis, North Carolina, Ohio State, Purdue, San Jose State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and the Swedish National Team.
Ole Miss will be without the services of Kim Tudor for the Championships and the remainder of the year. Tudor, a sophomore from Winter Garden, Fla., is medically redshirting the 1999-2000 season.
Competing for the Lady Rebels in Knoxville will be Robyn Rinaldo, Elizabeth Hoffman, Teresa Brown, Kerrie Davis and Marci Kornegay. Rinaldo, a senior from Dade City, Fla., Hoffman, a sophomore-transfer from Kingwood, Texas and Brown, a junior from Windermere, Fla. all placed in a tie for 21st in the team's previous tournament, the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate back on Oct. 1 through 3. Kornegay, a junior from Savannah, Ga., placed 51st in the fifth-annual event.
Davis, a freshman from New Orleans, La., will be making her collegiate debut this weekend.
