OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss soccer team will host the Tennessee Lady Volunteers and the Georgia Lady Bulldogs this weekend with a chance to claim it's first Southeastern Conference Western Division title.
Ole Miss, 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the SEC, will take on the Lady Vols on Friday at 7 p.m. and then play Georgia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
"These are two crucial games. Tennessee and Georgia are strong teams and it will be a big challenge for us," Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman said. "The SEC West is on the line and you couldn't ask for a better way to close out SEC play than this."
Currently, the Rebels are tied for the SEC West lead with Arkansas. But, the Rebels hold the tiebreaker against the Lady Razorbacks after defeating Arkansas 2-1 earlier this season and would be the division champions should both teams finish conference play with identical records.
The Lady Vols enter this weekend with a 5-9 overall record and a 3-4 SEC mark. Ole Miss defeated Tennessee 4-1 in 1997 in the only meeting between the two teams.
The Lady Bulldogs roll into Oxford with a 9-5-1 overall record and a 3-4 record in the conference. Ole Miss is 0-2 all-time against the Lady Bulldogs, with Georgia winning the last meeting 3-0 in 1998.
