OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's basketball team will hold an intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 9:00 a.m. in Tad Smith Coliseum. Admission to the scrimmage is free, and the public is invited to attend. The Rebel squad began practice for the 1999-2000 campaign on Saturday, Oct. 16.
"The players have worked really hard this week, and they are learning a lot," said Ole Miss head coach Rod Barnes, who is in his second season. "This scrimmage will give us an idea of how far we have come and what we still need to work on before the schedule begins in November."
The Rebels return only two starters and seven letterwinners from last year's team that posted a 20-13 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round.
Ole Miss will open exhibition play on Friday, Nov. 5 with a 7:00 p.m. game against Spirit Express. The Rebels then will host the Ukraine Select team in their second exhibition game on Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. Ole Miss will begin regular-season play on Nov. 19 versus Jacksonville State at 7:30 p.m.
