Lady Rebel Netter Advances To Semifinals At All-American

LOS ANGELES - Celeste Frey of the Ole Miss women's tennis team advanced to the semifinals at the prestigious Riviera All-American Championships Friday, winning two matches. Frey will face Adria Engel of Wake Forest in the semifinals Saturday.
This marks Frey's second grand slam final four appearance, as she also reached the National Collegiate Clay Court semifinals. In the round of 16, Frey, ranked No. 16 in the country, defeated 26th-ranked Martina Nedelkova of VCU 6-4, 6-3. She followed that up with a 6-1, 6-7(6), 6-4 quarterfinal win over Georgia's Aarthi Venkatesan, ranked 17th in the nation.
In other singles action, Ivona Mihailova won the first set against Georgia's Esther Knox (27th-ranked), but lost in three sets, 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-2, in the round of 16. Freshman Mira Radu dropped a 7-5, 7-5 decision to Lauren Kalvaria (36th-ranked)of Stanford in the second round.
The doubles were not available at press time. Frey and Mariana Eberle were playing Carlijn Buis and Delphine Troch of William & Mary.
