OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team will host the Mississippi Invitational this Friday-Sunday at the Women's Sports Complex. The tournament features national powers Ole Miss and Mississippi State going head-to-head.

Ole Miss and Mississippi State have been mainstays at the top of the national rankings. The Rebels advanced to the NCAA Final Four last year, were the SEC regular season champions and finished ranked No. 3 in the nation. They last met Mississippi State at the 1999 NCAA final 16 with the Rebels taking a 4-2 win.

"This will be an early test for both teams and the intense competition should prepare us for the upcoming ITA Region III Championships," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "When these two teams meet, there is always plenty of fireworks we seem to bring out the best in each team. We invite and encourage all of our fans to come out and enjoy some great tennis."

Ole Miss standouts Martin Selin and Kristofer Stahlberg, a major part of last year's NCAA Final Four team, will be leading the Rebels. Also seeing action this weekend will be Bo Petro, David Blackburn and freshmen Patrick Chucri and Alexander Hartman. Hartman is off to an 11-3 start this fall. He reached the finals of the Southern Collegiate Championships earlier this month and advanced to the main draw at the National Clay Court Championships.

The Mississippi Invitational is sanctioned by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), and all results will count toward ITA rankings and qualification for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships at the end of the year.

The tournament format will be similar to a dual match consisting of three eight-game pro sets of doubles followed by singles matches. Each day the tournament will feature different matchups. On Friday, the matches will start at noon, Saturday's activities will begin at 11:00 a.m., and Sunday the matches will start at 8:00 a.m.

This weekend features three sports in action at the Women's Sports Complex. The schedule is as follows:
