Rebel Netters Take Five Matches From Mississippi State

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team captured four of the seven singles matches against Mississippi State Saturday, in the Mississippi Invitational at the Women's Sports Complex.
Freshman Alexander Hartman continues to impress, defeating State's Mathieu Soto in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(2). He improved to 13-3 on the year. Sophomore Martin Selin, ranked 50th in the nation, won a first-set tiebreaker against 65th-ranked Jeremy Bayon and then dominated the second set for a 7-6(5), 6-1 win.
Kristofer Stahlberg won his second straight match in the Mississippi Invitational, 6-4, 6-3 over Charles Sevigny. Rounding out the singles winners for Ole Miss, freshman Patrick Chucri rallied to beat Chris McDonald 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-2.
Mississippi State took two of the three doubles matches. The Rebels' Hartman and Fredrik Mellin won their second consecutive match downing Soto and McDonald 8-3. Selin and Stahlberg led their match against Bayon and Rene Combette before seeing the Bulldog duo rally for an 8-6 win.
The tournament will conclude Sunday at 8:00 a.m., with Hartman and Stahlberg looking to go 3-0 in their matches. Hartman will face Combette and Stahlberg will attempt to hand Bayon his third loss of the weekend.
