Rebel Netter Advances To Singles Final At Southern Collegiate

ATHENS, Ga. - Ole Miss men's tennis freshman Alexander Hartman advanced to the singles final at the Southern Collegiate Championships Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Hartman outlasted Paul Podbury of Tennessee 6-4, 6-4 in the top half semifinal to reach his first collegiate final in only his second tournament. Doug Root, the tourney's top remaining seed at No. 2, narrowly escaped with a three-setter over Georgia freshman Matias Boeker. The two will square off at 9:00 a.m., Sunday.
With the win, Hartman improves to 11-1 on the year. After a first-round bye, Hartman, downed Juan Yannuzzi of ETSU 6-1,6-1. Hartman downed Tom Dalby of UAB 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 16 and then dominated Pietro Demichelli from Stetson by the same score in the quarterfinals.
In his previous tournament, Hartman advanced all the way from the prequalifying at the National Clay Court Championships to the main draw.
