Rebel Netters Set To Compete In ITA Region III Championships

OXFORD, Miss. - Members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team will begin competing in the ITA Region III Championships Thursday-Sunday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
The Rebels are competing for a spot in the Rolex National Indoor Championships (third grand slam event of the year) in February. Martin Selin, Kristofer Stahlberg, Alexander Hartman, Fredrik Mellin and Patrick Chucri are among the 128-players competing in singles, while Selin and Stahlberg and Mellin and Hartman are in the doubles field.
The Region III Championships features some of the top players in the nation from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Miami, Ole Miss, Tulane, UAB, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Selin, Stahlberg and Hartman all received first round byes. Mellin will face Ondrej Sliva of Bethune Cookman in the first round at 9:00 a.m., while Chucri will meet Bill McGugen of Vanderbilt at 10:00 a.m.
The Rebels are coming off a successful weekend in the Mississippi Invitational where they won 13 of 16 matches against Mississippi State in the three-day event.
