Lockhart, Ole Miss Finish Off Furman, 75-61

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Junior forward Rahim Lockhart scored 15 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and blocked four shots as Mississippi rallied in the second half to beat Furman 75-61 in the first round of the SoCon Holiday Hoops tournament Friday night.
Marcus Hicks and Jason Holmes also had 15 points for the Rebels (3-0), who advance to a second-round game Saturday night against Oregon State, a 92-57 winner over South Carolina State earlier Friday.
Freshmen Guilherme Da Luz scored 12 and Karim Souchu 11 for the Paladins (2-2), who play South Carolina State in the consolation bracket Saturday afternoon.
Lockhart had six points and two blocks, and Hicks five points, during a 20-2 run that stopped the upset-minded Paladins cold after they had closed within one, 50-49, with 11 minutes remaining.
The Rebels' run started with a layup by Jason Flanigan at the 10:46 mark and ended eight minutes later on Hicks' rebound basket for a 70-51 lead. Lockhart hit four free throws and a basket, while Hicks also had a three-point play.
During the run, Furman went six minutes without scoring.
The Rebels led 37-34 at halftime after trailing by as many as seven. They were up 45-41 when the Paladins got five straight for their last lead, 46-45.
Thirty seconds later Flanigan gave Mississippi the lead for good at 48-46 with a rebound basket and free throw.
The Rebels' largest lead came at 73-53 on Jason Harrison's 3-pointer with 1:23 remaining.
Furman led 18-11 midway through the first half after scoring 11 straight over four minutes. Souchu scored four to pace the run, which ended on Darrell Arbaugh's rebound basket at the 9:14 mark. The Paladins led 26-21 when Mississippi used a 12-3 run to regain the lead at 33-29 2:30 before halftime. Brown and Lockhart scored four each in the run.
Lockhart's rebounding helped Mississippi to a 48-26 advantage on the boards.
