NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Freshman Courtney Biddle's goal in the 40th minute proved to be the game winner as the Ole Miss Soccer team relied on a stingy defense to beat the Georgia Bulldogs 1-0 and advance to the finals of the Southeastern Conference Women's Soccer Tournament.

The Rebels will play the winner of the Florida-Vanderbilt game in the tournament finals on Sunday at 1 p.m. CST. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net South.

"Obviously, we are very excited to make it to the finals. Our girls played with a lot of heart and a lot of desire, and they didn't give up," Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman said. "We played hard and tracked the ball well. We won a lot of 50-50 balls. We played relentlessly and never gave up."

The game's only goal came with just five minutes remaining in the first half. Junior Jennifer Soileau lined up for a direct kick and sent a line drive towards the goal that Biddle knocked in from four yards out.

"I just got behind the defender on the play and jumped as high as I could," Biddle said. "Jennifer (Soileau) put the ball in a great place for me to get to it and I was able to put it in."

In the second half, the Rebels fought off a relentless attack from the Bulldogs to preserve the win. Georgia possessed the ball for most of the half and out shot the Rebels 16-2 in the half.

Senior goalkeeper Birna Bjornsdottir continued her strong play in the tournament recording five saves in the second half. Bjornsdottir finished with six saves for the game and now has recorded 15 saves in two games.

Ole Miss is making its first appearance in the SEC Tournament finals. The Rebels were eliminated in the first round of the tournament in 1997 and 1998 prior to the this season.

The 1999 SEC Women's Soccer Tournament is being hosted by Vanderbilt University.
