Lady Rebel Netter Advances To Finals At ITA South Regional

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss women's tennis freshman Mira Radu advanced to the finals of the ITA South Regional Championships Sunday, by defeating Florida's Jessica Lehnhoff 6-2, 6-4. She will face Lori Grey of Georgia in the finals Monday at 9:00 a.m.
"Mira has had an excellent tournament in the South Regional and has stayed focused, while defeating several experienced players," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "She has played with a lot of passion and courage. Those are two qualities that will carry her far in her career."
Radu will try to win her second collegiate tournament this fall as she won the Roberta Allison Invitational at the beginning of the year. More importantly, she will be vying for a spot in the Rolex National Indoor Championships to be held in February. The Rolex National Indoor is the third grand slam event of the year. Radu is now 11-1 this fall.
In the quarterfinals, Radu downed Silvia Sosmarova of South Alabama 6-3, 6-1. In other singles action, Lady Rebel freshman Julie DeRoo got to the quarterfinals, before losing to Lehnhoff 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. She ends the fall campaign at 13-3.
Radu already claimed one title, by winning the B doubles with Camilla Gould on Sunday. The two cruised to a 8-0 win over Tracey Gobey and Vanda Novakova of South Alabama.
"I am pleased with Mira and Camilla beating several accomplished teams." Montgomery said. "Overall, this has been a very good tournament for our team"
In the A doubles, seniors Celeste Frey and Mariana Eberle got to the semifinals before falling to Florida's Baili Camino and Traci Green in a tight match 9-7.
