KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Led by Robyn Rinaldo's third-place tie, the Ole Miss women's golf team fired a final-round 296 Tuesday to move up nine spots from round one and place fifth at the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Oak Point. The Lady Rebels closed out their fall with a 314-299-296--909 for their second top-five finish of the season.

Campbell defeated Tulane in a playoff to win the tournament with a 54-hole total of 892. South Florida's Kelly Lagedrost captured the individual crown with a one-under par 215.

Rinaldo, a senior from Dade City, Fla., posted her best tournament of the fall, carding a 76-76-69--221. It is Rinaldo's eighth career top-five finish and the third time she has placed among the top 20 this fall.

Sophomore-transfer Elizabeth Hoffman turned in her first career top-20 finish at Ole Miss. A native of Kingwood, Texas, Hoffman shot a 76-76-74--226 and finishes second on the team in stroke average this fall.

Teresa Brown and Kerrie Davis each tied for 28th with a three-round score of 231. Brown, a junior from Windermere, Fla., closes out the fall third in average, while Davis, a freshman from New Orleans, posted her best finish of the fall in at the Palmetto. Junior Marci Kornegay of Savannah, Ga., fought off sickness to card a 244.

Ole Miss coach Keil Purdom described the squad's finish as a great way to end a tough fall season.

"It was a pleasing performance for us," Purdom said. "We finished the fall season strongly and on a high note. We're starting to play the kind of golf we're capable of.

"We've had our ups and down this fall. After losing Kim Tudor with a medical redshirt, the team had some regrouping to do, and I've seen signs of us coming back. They've weathered the storm and came out smelling sweet."

The Lady Rebels begin their run toward a third straight NCAA Tournament at the Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., Feb. 25-27.
