Lady Golfers Tie for Fifteenth

DURHAM, N.C.--In its first-ever postseason appearance, the Ole Miss women's golf team tied for 15th place with scores of 312-314-312--938 at the NCAA East Regional at the Duke Golf Club.
Georgia, led by medalist Reilley Rankin, captured the team title, firing a 293-292-297--882. Rankin, the SEC Player and Freshman of the Year, posted rounds of 70-75-71--216 to win the individual title.
Completing the list of the top eight teams advancing to the NCAA Championship on May 20-23 in Madison, Wis., are Duke, LSU, Indiana, Ohio State, Florida, North Carolina and Auburn. Alabama's Kathryn Cusick and Kentucky's Heather Kraus qualified for individual play. The highest finisher for the Lady Rebels was Robyn Rinaldo, a sophomore from Dade City, Fla., who tied for 53rd place with a 76-81-78--235. Megan Breen, a junior from Longwood, Fla., tied for 58th place with a 78-77-81--236.
Junior Anna Kirchner of Spring, Texas, fired a career-low 74 in the final round to tie for 62nd place with an 80-83-74--237. Marci Kornegay, a freshman from Savannah, Ga., tied for 65th with a 78-81-79--238, and senior Lauren Mellen of Orlando, Fla., tied for 89th with an 83-75-86--244.
The Lady Rebels earned a record-tying 10 top 10 performances this year and have a record seven top five finishes. This was the first NCAA appearance in the history of the Ole Miss women's golf team, which began play in the fall of 1986.
