Lady Rebel Golf Takes Seventh at Liz Murphy Classic

ATHENS, Ga. - Ole Miss sophomore Teresa Brown shot a team-best, two-over par 75 to lead the Lady Rebel effort in final-round action at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic on Sunday. Ole Miss finished in seventh place with a three-round team score of 929. The seventh-place showing was the ninth top-10 finish for the Lady Rebels in 1998-99.
Georgia won the Murphy Classic with a three-day score of 872, with LSU finished in second place at 916. Georgia's Shauna Estes won the individual title with a three-round, five-under par 214.
Junior Robyn Rinaldo was the highest finisher for the Lady Rebels, placing 22nd with a score of 230 in the three-day tournament. Rinaldo shot a four-over par 77 in Sunday's final round. Sophomore Marci Kornegay was the squad's second-highest finisher at 24th. Kornegay, who shot a final-round, three-over par 76, finished the tournament with a score of 231.
Brown, who was tied for 74th after the second round, jumped up to the 63rd spot after her final round of 75. Brown carded a 242 in the tournament. Senior Megan Breen finished in a tie for 42ndplace with a 238, while freshman Kim Tudor tied for 48th at 239. Freshman Lynn Ann Moretto, who played as an individual in the classic, tied for 58th with a score of 241.
The Lady Rebels will compete next in the Southeastern Conference Championship, which will be held on April 16-18 at the Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala. Auburn University will serve as the championship's host.
