Lady Rebel Netters Qualify for NCAA Individual Field

OXFORD, Miss. - Several members of the Ole Miss women's tennis team will be participating in the NCAA Individual Championships, which will take place May 24-29 in Gainesville, Fla.
Senior Agnes Muzamel and juniors Ivona Mihailova and Celeste Frey will be competing in the singles championship. Muzamel will team up with Courtenay Chapman in doubles, as will Frey and Mariana Eberle. Ole Miss was the only school to have two doubles teams make the 32-team field.
This marks the 10th year in a row, that the Lady Rebels have had a representative in the NCAA Individual Championships and the 11th overall. It is also the most players to for qualify NCAAs in the history of women's tennis.
Muzamel, currently ranked No. 4 in the nation, will be making her fourth consecutive NCAA appearance in singles and third in doubles. The senior from Budapest, Hungary, owns a 24-12 overall record, 15-8 at No. 1 singles. Muzamel is one of four Lady Rebels to qualify for NCAAs all four years of her career. In addition, Muzamel became the second player to be named to the All-SEC team four years in a row.
Enjoying her best season yet, Mihailova posted a regular season record of 27-6 and an impressive 19-1 mark in dual matches. She went 12-0 at No. 3 singles to earn All-SEC first team honors. Mihailova, presently ranked No. 28 in the country, will be competing in the NCAA Individual Championships for the second straight year.
Frey, made a name for herself this year after transferring to Ole Miss. She is currently ranked No. 23 in the nation with a 34-17 overall record, 12-8 in dual matches.
Chapman joins Muzamel on the list of four-time NCAA qualifiers as she makes her fourth appearance in the NCAA Doubles Championship. Chapman has teamed with Muzamel for a 21-10 overall record and a No. 18 national ranking. The two posted a 8-1 record at No. 2 doubles in conference play to earn All-SEC first team honors. They have participated in the NCAA doubles tournament the last two years.
Frey and Eberle, ranked No. 12 in the nation, own a 26-12 record and have already reached the finals of one grand slam event this year, the National Collegiate Clay Courts.
Before the NCAA Individual Championships take place, these five Lady Rebels will be trying to help Ole Miss win its first ever National Championship beginning next weekend with regionals. The Lady Rebels, seeded No. 4 in the NCAA Team Championships, are hosting a regional May 15-16 at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. Ole Miss meets Alabama State in the first round at 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
