Lady Rebels Golf Finishes Sixth at SECs

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Ole Miss women's golf team shot a 311 in the final round of the SEC Women's Golf Championships on Sunday and finished sixth with a 926, tying the Lady Rebel record for top 10 finishes in a season with 10.
Georgia defended its 1997 SEC championship by firing a 295-297-302--894. LSU finished five strokes behind with a 302-302-295--899. Reilley Rankin of Georgia captured medalist honors with a 72-71-72--215.
Megan Breen, a junior from Longwood, Fla., and Robyn Rinaldo, a sophomore from Dade City, Fla., tied for 13th with a 229. Breen captured her ninth top 20 finish of the year with a 76-79-74--229, and Rinaldo earned her fifth top 20 finish with a 73-79-77--229.
Freshman Marci Kornegay of Savannah, Ga., tied for 36th with a 84-75-79--238. Anna Kirchner, a junior from Spring, Texas, tied for 39th with a 76-78-85--239. Senior Lauren Mellen of Orlando, Fla., finished 45th with a 79-81-81--241.
The Lady Rebels, who improved from their 10th-place finish in last year's SEC Championships, had 10 top 10 performances in both the 1992-93 and 1994-95 seasons. They have finished in the top 10 in every tournament this year and have a Lady Rebel record seven top five finishes.
