Box Score

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Freshman guard Dinno Daniels scored 10 points in overtime Saturday to lead Memphis to a 78-72 overtime victory over Mississippi.

An inside basket by Marcus Hicks of Ole Miss (7-2) with 32.7 seconds left in regulation tied it 61-61 and forced the overtime.

After another inside basket by Hicks tied it 65-65 with 3:34 left in overtime, Daniels hit a 3-pointer with 3:08 left for Memphis (6-2), then another while falling out of bounds at the left baseline at the 1:36 mark.

A layup and two free throws down the stretch by the guard built the Tiger lead to 77-70 with 19 seconds remaining.

The Tigers' inability to score in the later stages of regulation allowed Mississippi to get back in the game.

The Tigers scored nine unanswered points, including five by Shamel Jones, for a 59-55 lead with 6:29 left to play. Memphis would score only two points, a pair of free throws by Daniels, the rest of regulation play.

Mississippi had trouble with its free throws, hitting only 2-of-10 in the final 7:43 of regulation.

Omar Sneed led Memphis with 28 points and nine rebounds, including five points in overtime. Jones added 16 for the Tigers.

Jason Smith and Keith Carter led the Rebels with 18 points each, while Johnnie Rogers finished with 11. Hicks and Rahim Lockhart added 10 each.
