Ole Miss Rifle Team Drops Dual Match with Memphis

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's rifle team shot a season-high 1393 in a dual match with Memphis on Sunday but lost 1481-1393. The Lady Rebels dropped to 1-3 in dual matches this year.

Ole Miss was led by freshman Jill Barnes of Jackson, Miss., with a 358, followed by junior Jessica Crockett of Brown Deer, Wis., with a 357. Jennifer McKinney, a freshman from West Point, Miss., shot a 350, followed by senior Cinnamon Pugh of Louisville, Miss., with a career-high 328. Samantha Ball, a junior from New Albany, Miss., shot a 317 individually.

John Carter led Memphis with a 375, followed by Charles Moss with a 372 and Annie Svolto with a 371. Michael Perry added a 363, while Shala Waseem recorded a 326 in individuals.

"I am really happy that we ended this part of the season on a good note," Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe said. "By shooting our highest score of the year in this match, it shows that we are working hard and trying to improve."

This was the last match of the fall for the Lady Rebels. Ole Miss returns to action Jan. 23 at the Memphis Tiger Invitational in Memphis, Tenn.
