Women's Rifle Competes in NCAA Sectional

MURRAY, Ky. -- At the NCAA Collegiate Sectional in Murray, Ky., on Sunday, the Ole Miss women's rifle team fired a 1441, the highest total in the history of the Ole Miss program.
Kimberly Hickey led the Lady Rebels with a 364. Jessica Crockett shot a career-high 363, and Amy Pyron had a 363 as well. Melissa Putnam fired a career-high 358, followed by Spring Bishop with a 356.
"Our total in the NCAA Sectional this year was 68 points higher than last year's total," Ole Miss head coach Valerie Adcock Boothe said. "This is a remarkable improvement for this team in just one year. Hopefully in our next match we can reach our goal of 1450."
Also during the weekend, the Lady Rebels defeated Austin-Peay in a dual match by a score of 1422-1369.
Spring Bishop led Ole Miss by firing a 363. Amy Pyron was close behind with a 362. Kimberly Hickey shot a 349, followed by Jessica Crockett with a 348. Melissa Putnam added a 357 for the Lady Rebels.
Ole Miss evened its record in dual matches to 3-3. The Lady Rebels will host Tennessee-Martin in their final home match on Feb. 28 at the rifle range located behind the ROTC building on the Ole Miss campus.
