OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss women's rifle team ended its second season on a winning note as the Lady Rebels defeated Tennessee-Martin 1416-1405 on Saturday at the rifle range behind the ROTC building on the Ole Miss campus.

The win gave Ole Miss a 4-3 record in dual matches this season, an improvement from last year's 2-3 mark. The Lady Rebels were led by Amy Pyron with a 364, Kimberly Hickey with a 356, Jessica Crockett with a 354 and Melissa Putnam with a 342.

"We're a little disappointed we didn't reach our goal of 1450, but overall we are glad we won our final match," Ole Miss head coach Valerie Adcock Boothe said. "This was a great season for us. We improved tremendously this year, and we look forward to improving even more next year."

During the 1997-98 season, the Lady Rebels were led by Hickey with an average of 359, followed by Spring Bishop with a 356, Pyron with a 349, Putnam with a 347 and Crockett with a 342. Ole Miss fired its highest total in school history with a 1441 at the NCAA Collegiate Sectional on Feb. 15.
