Women's Rifle Team Tops 1400 in Weekend Tournaments

MURRAY, Ky. - The Ole Miss women's rifle team participated in two tournaments over the weekend and broke the 1400 barrier in both tournaments. The Lady Rebels shot a 1403 at the Tennessee-Martin Invitational, where they finished seventh out of 12 teams, and a 1408 at the Withrow Invitational, hosted by Murray State. The results of the Withrow Invitational have not been finalized.
At the Tennessee-Martin tournament, Ole Miss was led by Jill Barnes, a freshman from Jackson, Miss., with a 360. Jennifer McKinney, a freshman from West Point, Miss., came in second for the Lady Rebels with a 358, followed by senior Jessica Crockett of Brown Deer, Wis., with a 352. Cinnamon Pugh, a senior from Louisville, Miss., was fourth with a 343. Individually, Tiffani Norman, a senior from Little Rock, Ark., shot a 244, and Samantha Ball, a junior rom New Albany, Miss., shot a 207.
Barnes also led Ole Miss at the Withrow Invitational by firing a 366. McKinney shot a career-high 362, followed by Crockett with a 343 and Pugh with a 337. Ball shot a 324, and Norman had a 241 individually.
"Overall, this was a good weekend," Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe said. "The Lady Rebs are holding steady at their goal score. The Murray State match was a helpful experience, since that is where we will shoot the NCAA Sectional. Now they have a feel for the range in hopes to shoot an even better score there in two weeks."
Ole Miss will participate in the NCAA Sectional on Feb. 14 in Murray, Ky.
