Women's Soccer Ties Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Junior Amaris Smith and sophomore Mary Ann Moss each scored a goal as the Ole Miss Lady Rebel soccer team fought to a 2-2 overtime tie with Memphis on Thursday night. It was Ole Miss fourth consecutive overtime contest.
Smith also recorded an assist in the game, while sophomore Jennifer Soileau had two assists in the contest. With the tie, Ole Miss record now stands at 6-3-2. The Tigers are now 3-7-2.
The Lady Rebels grabbed the first lead of the contest with 12 minutes remaining in the first half when Smith chipped in a shot over Memphis goalkeeper Heather Chinelatto.Soileau assisted on Smith's goal.
After the half, the Tigers quickly tied the game at 1-1 when Jennifer Vossen scored 1:10 into the second half of play. Ole Miss regained the lead four minutes later on Moss' goal, but the Tigers' Tori Winslett scored the equalizer with under three minutes left in regulation to tie the game at 2-2 and send the contest into overtime.
Ole Miss outshot Memphis, 20-16, but the Tigers held an 8-7 corner kick advantage.
Lady Rebel goalkeeper Birna Bjornsdottir recorded eight saves, while Chinelatto had 10 stops.
The Lady Rebels return to action on Oct. 16 when they will travel to Columbia, S.C.,to play South Carolina in a Southeastern Conference encounter. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
