A Score of Excellence: Tammy Zegledi

Ole Miss Lady Rebel Soccer is in its fourth season. Senior Tammy Zegledi has made history as a founding member who has played in every Lady Rebels soccer game, but her achievements don't end there. As a dedicated soccer player and excelling student, Zegledi is a pro at priorities.
A graduate of Lake Howell High School, Zegledi says she chose the first-year program at Ole Miss because she loved everything about the school. "The history, the players, the coaches," Zegledi says, "We have such a bond on this team. You won't see that on other teams." Zegledi has come a long way in just four short years. She now holds second place in the SEC for points scored this year, and eleventh in the Division I NCAA. With seven goals early this season, she is only one away from the SEC lead. The modest Zegledi says it took a lot of patience, hard work, and dedication, but gives most of the credit to her coaches and teammates.
"We don't have selfish players. We all give each other opportunities to score," says Zegledi, "and I have to give it to the coaching staff. If it weren't for them, I couldn't be one of the top scorers in the conference."
Over this short period of time, Zegledi has helped to develop the Lady Rebels into a team that has potential to give the SEC a good challenge. As a team, the women currently lead the SEC in points scored, goals scored, assists, and shots for the season so far. They rank number one in Division I NCAA for scoring offence.
A computer science major, Zegledi is a well-rounded individual. Not only does she excel in athletics, but she is also a devoted student. Last year, Zegledi was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Her name is not uncommon on the UMAA and Dean's Honor Rolls as well. She says the key is knowing how to balance her time. "I believe in everything I do," Zegledi says, "I believe academics are just as important as soccer."
