Lady Rebel Netters Blank Harvard

OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 6 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team recorded its sixth shutout of the season, blanking Harvard 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. With the win, Ole Miss improves to 8-2 on the season and will host 14th-ranked Arkansas Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
"We played a great match today," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "I like the way we adjusted to the conditions with it being our first outdoor match. This was good preparation for our match against Arkansas. Harvard fought hard and didn't give up making us close out matches."
Junior Ivona Mihailova dominated Andrea Magyera 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, Mariana Eberle cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jennie Timoney at No. 5 singles and Agnes Muzamel downed Vedica Jain 6-0, 6-4 at the top spot to give Ole Miss a 3-0 start. Mihailova is 10-0 in dual matches this season.
Celeste Frey gave the Lady Rebels a commanding 4-0 lead when she handed the Crimson's Sahaz Ghazal a 6-1, 6-4 defeat and then Courtenay Chapman clinched the victory by defeating Fleur Broughton 7-5, 6-3.
Harvard only won one set the entire day as the Crimson's Roxanna Curto took the first set against Ole Miss' Alesya Ignatieva, but the Lady Rebel rallied to win the match 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 for the sweep in singles.
Ole Miss continued its dominance in doubles for the second straight match allowing only six games in three matches. Frey and Eberle downed Ghazal and Broughton 8-2 at No. 1doubles, Muzamel and Chapman beat Jain and Magyera 8-3 at No. 2 doubles and the Mihailova twins dominated Curto and Sarah McGinty 8-1 at three doubles.
