AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 8 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team won four singles matches and all three doubles contests in downing Auburn 7-2 Friday afternoon at the Luther Young Tennis Center. The Lady Rebels improve to 17-4 overall, 8-2 in the SEC.

Ivona Mihailova downed Carolina Maurer 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Courtenay Chapman became the sixth Lady Rebel to win 20 matches this season as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Summa Edwards at No. 4 singles. Mariana Eberle dominated Judith Boban 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Eberle has won eight of her last nine matches.

Freshman Alesya Ignatieva put Ole Miss up 4-1 when she defeated Caroline Thompson 7-6, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. She has now won seven in a row and eight of her last nine. Auburn's Andrea Piski knocked off fourth-ranked Agnes Muzamel 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to force doubles play.

With Ole Miss' Celeste Frey and Auburn's Simone Jardin still battling in a hard-fought match at No. 2 singles, the Mihailova twins, Ivona and Irena, clinched the victory for the Lady Rebels with their 8-1 win over Boban and Thompson at No. 3 doubles.

Jardin pulled out a 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 win for the Tigers only other point of the day. Muzamel and Chapman downed Edwards and Maurer 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and then Ignatieva teamed up with Eberle to defeat Piski and Heidii Stewart 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.

The Lady Rebels close out the decade against Auburn with an impressive 9-1 record. They return home to host Alabama at 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the final home match of the season, before competing in the SEC Tournament next weekend.
