OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Jason Smith scored 20 points and Mississippi's defense forced LSU into 30 turnovers as the Rebels beat the Tigers 79-57 to snap a four-game losing streak on Saturday.

Mississippi (18-11, 8-8 Southeastern Conference) will be the Western Division's No. 3 seed for the SEC Tournament. The Rebels most likely need to win at least two more games in the conference tournament next week to make the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss opened the game with a 9-0 run, including a 3-pointer and a jumper from Keith Carter. Carter, one of four seniors playing their final regular season game, scored 13 points for the Rebels. LSU (12-14, 4-12) gradually cut the lead in the first half, twice pulling within seven points. The Tigers were down 37-30 with 2:09 left in the first half, after a 6-0 run highlighted by a 3-pointer by Maurice Carter. But the Tigers played sloppy throughout the game. LSU shot 42 percent from the field, but turnovers kept the Rebels in firm control. Ole Miss led 43-30 at the half. In the second half, Jabari Smith hit a basket to cut the Rebels' lead to 45-34, but the Rebels went on 10-0 run. Three LSU turnovers and three Ole Miss dunks, including a pair by Jason Smith sealed the win for the Rebels. Carter led LSU with 20 points and Jabari Smith added 14 for the Tigers. Marcus Hick scored 13 points for Ole Miss.
