Men's Tennis Beats Mississippi State, 4-2

ATHENS, GA. - Ole Miss junior Vikrant Chadha defeated Mississippi State's Mathieu Soto 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 to clinch a 4-2 match victory and propel the Rebels into the quarterfinals of the Men's NCAA Tennis Championships.
Sixth-seeded Ole Miss (20-5) will take on third-seeded Illinois (28-3) at 5 p.m. EST on Sunday. Illinois advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Arizona State 4-1.
The Rebels jumped out to a 1-0 lead after Martin Selin and Kristofer Stahlberg clinched the doubles point with a 9-7 win over Jeremy Bayon and Soto on court three.
The Bulldogs responded with victories on courts one and three in singles for a 2-1 advantage. Mississippi State's Marco Baron beat James Shortall 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 on court one, while Bayon defeated Anders Stenman 6-1, 6-3 on court three.
Ole Miss evened the match at 2-2 after Martin Sjoqvist defeated Matthieu Ballay 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-4 on court two.
Selin beat David Ruiz 6-1, 6-4 on court five to give the Rebels a 3-2 lead and set up Chadha's match-clinching victory.
"I am very proud of our team. Mississippi State is a tough team, especially at the top three spots," Ole Miss head coach Billy Chadwick said. "We were able to get a win on court two and we knew we get at least two wins from our four, five and six guys."
