Three Rebels Earn SEC Academic Honor Roll

OXFORD, Miss.--Megan Breen, Lauren Mellen and Marianne Morris of the Ole Miss women's golf team were named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer announced on Wednesday.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete mus have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past two semesters or three quarters or for her career, be a sophomore or higher in academic classification and have 24 semester or 26 quarter hours toward a degree.
"We are excited to have three Lady Rebels on the SEC Academic Honor Roll," Ole Miss head coach Keil Purdom said. "This is a great accomplishment for Megan, Lauren and Marianne. I am proud of how hard they have worked on and off the golf course."
Breen, a junior from Longwood, Fla., has a 4.00 GPA in Banking and Finance. Breen was named to two Academic All-America teams and to the SEC Academic Honor Roll last year and is a past member of the Chancellor's Honor Roll. A two-time All-SEC performer, she leads the team with a 76.42 stroke average and four top five, five top 10 and eight top 20 finishes. Breen captured the Beacon Woods Invitational on Oct. 10-12 with a 75-73-75--223.
Mellen, a senior from Orlando, Fla., has a 3.56 GPA in Hotel/Motel Institutional Management. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll last year and has made the Chancellor's and UMAA Honor Rolls in the past. An All-SEC performer her sophomore year, Mellen is second on the team with a 76.61 stroke average and three top five, five top 10 and seven top 20 finishes. She won the Tulane Green Wave Classic Nov. 3-4, her second career title.
Morris, a senior from Dallas, Texas, has a 3.66 GPA in Exercise Science. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Wellness. A member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 1995 and 1996 and a past member of the UMAA Honor Roll, Morris has played in two tournaments this year for the Lady Rebels.
Ole Miss will participate in the SEC Championships Friday through Sunday at the Riverchase Country Club in Birmingham, Ala., hosted by Alabama.
