Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Florida State Tournament

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Robyn Rinaldo of the Ole Miss women's golf team fired a final round 75 at the Florida State Lady Seminole Golf Classic Sunday at Seminole Golf Course, to capture medalist honors. The Lady Rebels finished fifth in the team standings with a three-day total of 912.
The sophomore from Dade City, Fla., won her first collegiate title with a 70-75-75--220, edging Kentucky's Heather Kraus (221) by one stroke. Rinaldo picked up her fifth career top 10 finish with a career-best three-round total.
Ole Miss finished one shot behind Central Florida and host Florida State who turned in a 911. Kentucky won the tournament, coming back to shoot 299 and 295 in the second and third rounds for a 900.
"I am extremely pleased with our results at this tournament," head coach Keil Purdom said. "This was a successful first tournament for us. If we continue to shoot good scores, this will be an exciting year."
Lady Rebel Megan Breen of Longwood, Fla., carded a 74-75-74--223 to finish third in the tournament, three strokes back of Rinaldo. Breen earned her seventh career top 10 finish. Senior Lauren Mellen posted a career 10th top 20 showing with a 76-76-78--230 to tie for 20th. She missed making the top 10 by three strokes.
Marianne Morris, after opening with an 84-80, came back to shoot a career-low round 75 to tie for 45th in the standings with a 239. Morris' total score was a career-best finish for the senior from Dallas, Tx.
