OXFORD, Miss - The Ole Miss soccer team will face the Kentucky Wildcats in the first round of the 1998 Southeastern Tournament Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
It is the second year in a row that the Lady Rebels have made the conference tournament. Last season, Ole Miss fell in the first round, 6-0, to Florida, the eventual SEC champions
"We are very excited to return to the conference championships," said Lady Rebel head coach Steve Holeman. "Our team has worked extremely hard to get to this point. We are looking forward to the challenge that KU will provide us."
The Lady Rebels are riding a three-game win streak into the tournament, while Kentucky dropped a 1-0 game in the final minute to No. 19 Michigan. Ole Miss has never beaten KU in the four-year history of the Lady Rebel program. The Wildcats beat OM in Oxford, 2-1, on Oct. 15, 1995 and Lexington, 2-1, on Oct. 19, 1997.
