OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf program has announced the signing of Elizabeth Hoffman, a transfer from Texas Lutheran University, to a national letter of intent, Lady Rebel head coach Keil Purdom announced Friday.
A native of Kingwood, Texas, Hoffman will be a sophomore next season and will be eligible immediately. Last season for Texas Lutheran, Hoffman competed in six tournaments and recorded two top-five finishes.
"We're excited to be adding a player of Elizabeth's caliber to our golf program," Purdom said. "Not only has she excelled on the golf course, but she is a very dedicated student as well. We look forward to her contributions both as a golfer and a student."
A member of the Houston Golf Association (HGA) Junior Golf Program the last four years, Hoffman won the Kroger Greater Houston Junior Championship last summer. She compiled a 76.6 stroke average over 19 tournaments and was named to the first team All-Houston Golf Association team for the second straight year. Hoffman also earned the 1998 Houston Golf Association Player of the Year Award.
The HGA also recognized Hoffman for her academics by awarding her a $5,000 scholarship.
The Lady Rebels are coming off their second-straight NCAA East Regional appearance in 1999, and they recorded their highest finish ever at the Southeastern Conference Championships this past spring with a third-place showing.
