OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Tyrus Boswell's putback with just over a minute left gave Mississippi State a lead and the Bulldogs hung on to beat Mississippi 61-59 Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (10-5, 2-1) broke a four-game losing streak on the road against in-state rival Mississippi despite missing three key players because of injuries.
With the score tied, Boswell grabbed the rebound of T.J. Billup's pullup jumper and layed it in to give MSU a 58-56 lead with 1:17 left.
The Bulldogs made 3-of-6 free throws down the stretch, but it was enought to seal the victory. Billups and Antonio Jackson each had 12 points for MSU. Boswell had eight points and seven rebounds.
Ole Miss guard Emmanuel Wade missed a jumper at the buzzer that would have tied the game.
Lataryl Williams had 21 points to lead Ole Miss (12-4, 0-3).
