Rebels Have Let Down, Fall To Alabama 96-67

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Schea Cotton scored a career-high 29 points as Alabama took control late in the first half for a 96-67 win over Mississippi Saturday night.

The Crimson Tide (10-8 overall, 3-3 Southeastern Conference) is 58-8 in the series in Tuscaloosa.

Mississippi (13-7, 1-6), coming off an upset of No. 7 Auburn last weekend, led by five points twice in the first half. But Alabama closed the half on an 11-2 run to take a 41-32 lead at the break.

The Rebels got as close as six points, at 43-37, early in the second half on Emmanuel Wade's 3-pointer. The Tide answered with an 11-3 run and kept the lead in double digits the rest of the way.

Cotton also had nine rebounds and was 15-of-21 from the free throw line. Terrance Meade scored 17 points, Rod Grizzard 13 and Doc Martin 10. Erwin Dudley had eight points and 12 rebounds despite early foul trouble.

Marcus Hicks led the Rebels with 20 points. Wade had 19 points, including four 3-pointers, and Rahim Lockhart had nine points and 10 boards.

The Tide outrebounded Ole Miss 42-33.

It was Alabama's biggest margin of victory in a league game since beating Tennessee 100-64 last season.
