OXFORD, Miss.-- Coming off two record breaking performances, the Ole Miss rifle team now prepares to take on Arkansas and Austin Peay in dual matches Saturday and Sunday.
"We are excited about hosting Austin Peay and Arkansas this weekend," said Ole Miss rifle head coach Valerie Boothe. "They will both provide good competition for our team. Our team has worked hard and they are ready to compete."
In its first two matches this season, Ole Miss has set school records in both air rifle and smallbore. The Lady Rebels set a school mark in smallbore at the Ole Miss Invitational Oct. 14- 15 with a score of 4328. They also set a new air rifle team record with a score of 1465, also set at the Ole Miss Invitational.
Individual records have also fallen this year. Katie Trickett, a freshman from Woburn, Mass., set new individual records in both air rifle and smallbore. She broke the air rifle record with a score of 384 against TCU on Sept 23. Trickett broke the smallbore record with a score of 1130 at the Ole Miss Invitational.
Following the matches this weekend, the Rebels return to action on Nov. 3 at the Walsh Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, on Nov. 5.
