OXFORD, Miss. - Freshman Conor Casey of the Ole Miss men's tennis team, will be competing in the prequalifying tournament at the All-American Championships at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, Ga., this weekend.

The prequalifying tournament, featuring 256 singles players and 128 doubles teams, begins Friday and runs through Monday. Participants must win five matches to advance to the qualifying tournament, which starts on Oct. 10.

The All-American Championships is the second leg of the 2000-01 ITA Grand Slam. It is the nation's largest collegiate tennis tournament.

Casey participated in the T. Rowe Price National Collegiate Clay Court Championships (first grand slam of the year) and teamed with senior James Shortall to advance to the final four in main draw doubles. The two, ranked No. 22 in the nation, will team up again at this tournament.

In singles, junior Kristofer Stahlberg will compete in the qualifying tournament, while Shortall and clay court quarterfinalist Alex Hartman are already in the main draw, which takes place Oct. 12-15.
