OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will be one of 16 of the nation's top collegiate men's and women's tennis teams competing in the WingspanBank.com/WTT National Collegiate Tennis Championships at Stanford University's Taube Family Tennis Stadium this Friday through Sunday. This will mark the second ever co-ed intercollegiate national tennis championships.

The three-day event, which is hosted by Merrill Corporation and administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and DuPont World Team Tennis, creates a unique scenario in which a co-ed national collegiate champion will be crowned in a NCAA-sanctioned sport.

Teams participating in this year's event include UCLA, Clemson, Illinois, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, San Diego State, South Alabama, Southern California, South Carolina, Stanford, Texas A&M, Tulsa and VCU. Texas A&M won last year's inaugural championship, defeating Duke 27-23.

Rebels' David Blackburn, Jim Jacobs and Mason Cousins and Lady Rebel freshmen Karem Harboe and Hana-Katri Aalto will be competing in singles, doubles and mixed doubles for Ole Miss.

Ole Miss will play South Carolina in the first round at noon, CST., on Friday and then San Diego State at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Rebels will face South Alabama at noon. The winners of the four groups, will advance to the semifinals later that day. The finals will be played at 2:00 p.m. CST on Sunday.

Each team match will consist of five sets, with one set each of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

One point is awarded for each game won. A nine-point tiebreaker is played if a set reaches five all. If necessary, overtime and a "Supertiebreaker" are played to determine the outright winner of the match.
