TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Ole Miss soccer team saw its nine-game winning streak come to an end in a 1-0 double overtime loss to Alabama Friday night at the Alabama Soccer Complex.

Tide midfielder Katie Holtzapfel headed a ball that deflected off the top of Rebel goalkeeper Melinda Smith's hand for the game-winner at the 114:26 mark. Ellen Sanders earned the assist.

Battling winds over 20 mph, Ole Miss (9-3, 2-1 SEC) outshot Alabama 16-12 for the match, but the Tide (5-8, 1-2 SEC) held a 5-1 shot advantage in the two overtimes.

The loss ends the school-record nine-game win streak for the Rebels and what was a tie for the best start in school history. Ole Miss, who remains atop the SEC Western Division, falls to 1-2 in overtime games this year.

Ole Miss continues its Southeastern Conference road trip through Alabama Sunday at Auburn. Game time between the Rebels and Tigers is set for 1 p.m.
