Ole Miss Soccer Earns Road Win Over Auburn, 4-0

AUBURN, Ala. - Regan Scanlon posted two goals and an assist in leading the Ole Miss soccer team to a 4-0 win over Auburn Sunday at the Auburn Soccer Complex. After seeing their school-record nine-game winning streak come to an end Friday night at Alabama, the Rebels (10-3, 3-1 SEC) bounced back with the their third shutout of the year.

Scanlon, a senior forward from Pittsford, N.Y., opened the scoring in the 13th minute, assisted by Anna Sanders. Less than seven minutes later, Sanders picked up another assist on Jennifer Soileau's sixth goal of the season.

The Rebels continued their onslaught in the second half, with Scanlon netting her second goal at the 53:04 mark. Courtney Biddle earned the assist. In the 71st minute, Scanlon assisted on fellow senior Jessica O'Neill's first goal of the season to finish the scoring.

"This was a big win for us," said Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman. "Our seniors really showed their leadership in stepping up today. The best thing about today's win was how we were able to turn it around after losing to Alabama on Friday and get refocused for Auburn. This was a quality team that we beat today."

Junior goalkeeper Melinda Smith earned the shutout for the Rebels and boasts 1.5 for the season. Ole Miss outshot Auburn (10-4, 1-3 SEC) 15-12 for the game.

The Rebels return home this weekend for a pair of SEC East matchups. Ole Miss hosts South Carolina Friday at 7 p.m. and defending conference champion Florida Sunday at 1 p.m.
