Ole Miss Rifle Squad Seeks Strong Finish To Fall Season

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss rifle team is preparing for its final meets of the fall season when they travel to Atlanta to participate in the Wolf Creek Invitational on Saturday. They will then travel to Jacksonville, Ala., to take on Jacksonville State on Sunday.
"We are really excited about competing this weekend," said Ole Miss rifle coach Valerie Boothe. "The break is coming at a good time for us. We have reached our goals this fall, now we have to set those goals higher for the spring."
The Lady Rebels (3-0-0) are coming off record performances at the Walsh Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio and the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio on Nov. 3-5. They set a new mark for air rifle at the Walsh Invitational with a score of 1500. They also set a new mark for smallbore with a score of 4446, set at the Buckeye Invitational.
Team records are not the only records that are falling for Ole Miss rifle. Katie Trickett, a freshman from Woburn, Mass., set a new school record in air rifle with a score of 388 at the Walsh Invitational on Nov.3. She also holds the school mark in smallbore with a score of 1130.
Following this weekend's competition, the Lady Rebels will be back in action on Jan. 13, 2001, when they travel to El Paso, Texas to participate in the Southwest Invitational.
