Rifle Squad Sets More Records

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The records keep falling as the Ole Miss rifle team continues to set new marks in air rifle and smallbore. For the fourth consecutive meet, Lady Rebels set new records at the Walsh Invitational in Cincinnati.

Ole Miss set new records in both smallbore and air rifle. They set a new air rifle mark with a team score of 1500. That broke the old record of 1492, set against Austin Peay and Arkansas on Oct. 28-29. Katie Trickett once again broke the school air rifle record with a score of 388. That broke the record of 384, which she broke against TCU on Sept. 23.

The Lady Rebels also set new marks in smallbore. They set a new school record in that competition with a score of 4410. That eclipsed the old mark of 4328 set at the Ole Miss Invitational on Oct. 14-15. Trickett tied her school smallbore record score with a score of 1130.

"I'm extremely proud of our team," said Ole Miss rifle coach Valerie Boothe. "They reached their goal of 1500 in air rifle by midseason. We are very satisfied with what we did at this meet."

In the smallbore competition, Trickett led the Lady Rebels with a score of 1130. Kristin Parker scored a 1105 and Misty Ballard shot a 1091. Maranda Stockton scored a 1080 and Samantha Ball, who participated as an individual, shot a 1009.

In air rifle, Trickett scored a 388, while Kristin Parker shot a 376. Maranda Stockton had a score of 373 and Samantha Ball shot a 363. Misty Ballard, who competed as an individual, scored a 358.

The Lady Rebels will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to participate in the Buckeye Classic.
