OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss' men's tennis team is ranked No. 11 nationally in the fall edition of the WingspanBank.com Collegiate Rankings, released Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Sophomore Alex Hartman is ranked No. 26 in the nation in singles.

Tuesday's team poll was determined by vote of the ITA National Ranking Committee, while the individual rankings were based on fall 2000 results.

This marks the eighth consecutive year that the Rebels have been ranked among the nation's top 15. Ole Miss ended the 1999-2000 season ranked No. 14 with a 19-6 record and earned their ninth trip to the NCAA Championships.

"This ranking is very important as this ITA poll is used to select the 16 team field for the National Team Indoor Championships," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "Our goal this fall was to secure a spot and our ranking places us in excellent position."

The Rebels have been to the National Team Indoor Championships seven consecutive years since 1994.

Hartman finished the fall with an 8-3 record including winning the Mobile Country Club Tournament and reaching the quarterfinals at the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships. All three of his losses came against nationally-ranked players, including the No. 4 player. Hartman posted a win over the nation's No. 2 player in the round of 16 at the Clay Courts.

The Rebels open the spring season Jan. 18-21 at the SEC Indoor Championships in Athens, Ga.
