No. 6 Women's Tennis Defeats Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The No. 6 Ole Miss Lady Rebel tennis team defeated No. 66 Southeastern Conference opponent Alabama, 8-1 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Sunday afternoon.
At No. 1 singles, Julie DeRoo dominated Weyli Chang in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Ivona Mihailova, playing at No. 2 singles, and Celeste Frey, playing at No. 3 singles, were also straight sets winners, defeating Dominique Glinzler and Millie Begovic respectively.
At No. 4 singles, Mariana Eberle fought back after losing the first set to defeat Jenny Ketchum, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Mira Radu, at No. 5 singles, also had to overcome a one set loss to defeat Selia Mathew in three sets.
In the Lady Rebels only loss of the day, Irena Mihailova, playing at No. 6 singles, fell in straight sets to Becca Baum, 6-3, 6-4.
Ole Miss then swept the doubles, with Ivona Mihailova and Eberle, playing at No. 1 doubles, defeating Chang and Begovic, 8-1. DeRoo and Radu then won a solid 8-3 decision over Mathew and Baum before Frey and Irena Mihailova finished the day with an 8-4 victory over Glinzler and Ketchum.
