Rifle Squad Posts Best Finish Ever At NCAA Sectional

MURRAY, Kty. - The Ole Miss rifle team placed sixth at the NCAA Collegiate Sectional Sunday at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range on the campus of Murray State University. The Lady Rebels totaled an aggregate score of 5443 to earn their highest finish ever at the Sectional.
The host Racers won the event with a total score of 6093. Jacksonville State placed second out of the 11 participants with a 6085, and Kentucky was third with a 6083.
Maranda Stockton, a freshman from Livingston, Tenn., led Ole Miss with an air rifle score of 379 and a smallbore score of 1109. Jessica Crockett, competing in her final collegiate event, turned in a career-high 372 in air rifle. The senior and team captain from Brown Deer, Wisc., also shot a 1052 in smallbore.
Also for the Lady Rebels, Samantha Ball shot a 344 in air rifle and a 985 in smallbore, while Jennifer Curry totaled a 314 and an 888.
