OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 12 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team will host 20th-ranked South Alabama Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The match was originally scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

"We are looking forward to playing our first match of the spring season outside against South Alabama," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "We've had several good days of practice since returning form the National Team Indoors, and I am optimistic about our performing well in our upcoming match. We would appreciate a big turnout from the people in our community."

Ole Miss (6-2) is coming off the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships, where they posted a 1-2 record. They lost to Wake Forest in the first round 4-3 and then playing without their No. 1 player Julie DeRoo, dropped a 5-2 decision to Northwestern. In the final round of consolation, the Lady Rebels rebounded to defeat Wisconsin 7-0.

The Lady Rebels are 4-0 at home this year and have posted a 35-6 record at home over the last four years. They went 11-1 last year at home. Freshman Julie DeRoo owns a 4-0 record in dual matches, including 3-0 at No. 1 singles. She knocked off No. 6 Adria Engel (Wake Forest) at the National Team Indoor. Senior Ivona Mihailova, who had an excellent campaign last year, is off to a 7-1 dual match start.

South Alabama comes into the match with a 5-1 record. They downed 24th-ranked Fresno State 8-1 on Sunday. The Jaguars lone loss on the season was a 5-3 setback to Northwestern. South Alabama is led by Martina Ondrejkova, who boasts a 6-0 record at No. 2 singles. Their top doubles team of Ondrejkova and Iva Puflerova, are ranked among the nation's top five and are 4-2.
