Ole Miss Hoopster Darrian Brown Leaves The Team

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's basketball head coach Rod Barnes announced on Thursday that Darrian Brown, a 6-foot-6 guard/forward from West Memphis, Ark., has left the Rebel team.
"Darrian has left our team," said Barnes, who is in his second season at the helm of the Ole Miss program. "He has asked for his release, and we have granted his release to go wherever he wants to go.
"We appreciate his efforts here at Ole Miss over the past two seasons. Darrian felt that, to better his playing career, he needed to go to another program. We wish him all the best as he continues his education and playing career at another institution."
This season, Brown played in 24 games and started two. He averaged 6.9 points and 3.1 rebounds, while shooting 37.4 percent from the floor and 74.3 percent from the charity stripe. In his two seasons as a Rebel, Brown played in 53 games and averaged 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds.
The Rebels (15-11, 3-10 SEC) return to action on Saturday when they host No. 24 Vanderbilt (17-7, 7-6 SEC) in a Southeastern Conference contest. Game time is 2:00 p.m. (CT) at Tad Smith Coliseum.
