Rebels Down South Carolina, 83-75

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Rahim Lockhart and Marcus Hicks scored 18 points each to lead Mississippi to its fifth straight victory at home over South Carolina in an 83-75 win on Wednesday.
The Rebels (15-7, 3-6 Southeastern Conference) won for the third time in their last four SEC games. South Carolina (9-14, 1-9), which dropped its ninth consecutive game, last won in Oxford in 1997.
Hicks gave Ole Miss to a 16-6 lead in the opening six minutes, scoring six of seven field goals. South Carolina cut the margin to 16-12 on a jumper by Marius Petravicius with 9:58 left in the first half.
The Rebels responded with a 12-1 run, highlighted by consecutive 3-pointers from Emmanuel Wade and Jason Harrison, giving the Rebels a 28-13 lead. South Carolina, down 33-20 at halftime, opened up the second half with a 3-pointer by David Ross.
The Gamecocks, led by Jamel Bradley with 15 points, got as close as seven points in the final minute, but the Rebels hit 20-of-28 free throws to seal the victory.
Lockhart and Hicks combined to hit 15-of-21 shots from the field. Jason Harrison and Darrian Brown scored 14 points apiece and Jason Flanigan added 11.
David Ross had 11 points and Chuck Eidson added 10 for South Carolina.
