Hoffman Leads Lady Rebel Golfers At Waterlefe

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Ole Miss women's golf team, paced by Elizabeth Hoffman's top 20 finish, placed 10th at the USF Waterlefe Invitational on Tuesday. The Lady Rebels carded a 326-316- 311--953 at the 5,909-yard, par 72 Waterlefe Golf & River Club.
Michigan State ran away with the team title with a three-round score of 895, 27 strokes ahead of the field. The host South Florida, led by individual medalist Angie Connell (217), finished second with a 922.
Hoffman, a sophomore from Kingwood, Texas, shot an 82-75-76--233 to place 18th. It is the second top 20 finish for Hoffman, who transferred to Ole Miss from Texas Lutheran prior to the 1999- 2000 season.
Junior Teresa Brown fired a final-round 75 to tie for 29th with a 54-hole score of 237. Senior Robyn Rinaldo tied for 38th with a 238, while freshman Bernadette Luse was 56th with a 245. Marci Kornegay totaled a 248, and Roiann Boisture, who competed as an individual, had a 280.
The Lady Rebels return to action March 31 at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., as Ole Miss continues its push for a third straight NCAA Tournament berth.
